Gateway Pastor Search Announcement - September 13, 2024

Pastor Search Update

Dear Gateway Family,

Please join us in celebrating the selection of Gateway's newest staff pastor, Jason Smith, along with his wife, Amanda, and daughters, Scarlett (13), Felicity (10), and Rosalind (7). Jason's appointment as Senior Associate Pastor at Gateway will begin officially on October 1.
Jason has served as a Pastor for over 15 years, seven of those years as Senior Pastor in both the United Methodist and more recently, Global Methodist churches. He has led churches ranging up to 550 in attendance and comes to us with glowing recommendations from church leaders we know and trust. He was unanimously approved by our church council after 2 weeks of prayer by our staff, council and church. We are excited to add him to our church leadership and know that our Gateway family will extend a warm welcome to them.

Initially, Jason will be getting to know our church family and settling in to his primary role of leading our church staff. You will see him on the platform in the months to come, eventually teaching on Sunday later this year.  Jason will also mentor under the guidance of our Senior Pastor, Randy, to further grow his gifts of leadership, teaching and church oversight.

We will host a reception for their family later this month on Sunday, September 22 after both services where you may welcome, talk and discover just why we believe he is who God has brought to us for this next season as a church. Please keep the Smith family in your prayers as they make the transition to our area and into our church family.
Jason Smith has been a pastor for over 15 years, having served as senior pastor at four churches in East Texas, and in Katy. He was born in the Houston area, went to Texas Tech University for his undergraduate degree, and worked on his master's degree at Gordon-Conwell Seminary before finally receiving his degree at Perkins School of Theology at SMU in Dallas. He began in the United Methodist Church, but like many pastors across the country, including Pastors Randy and Susan Hageman, he chose to join the Global Methodist Church when it formed two years ago as a traditional, orthodox Wesleyan-Christian denomination.
