Some Christians think that followers of Jesus should never be sad, but is that what the Bible shows us? Sadness and sorrow are actually common for God’s people, including Jesus, and the Psalms are filled with expressions to God of sadness called laments. Could it be that God has a plan and a purpose, and even the promise of joy, for occasions that bring sadness into our lives?
