The nation of Israel had long awaited the arrival of their promised King. Living in a homeland occupied by the cruel oversight of the Roman Empire, oppressed by their taxes, but also by the weight of religious leaders who had turned their relationship with their Creator into a crushing burden. They weren't prepared to receive their Deliverer because He arrived in a way that was unexpected. How do we, today, miss the relationship we were always meant to have with our Savior because He's still in the business of doing the unexpected?
